Classics names for cats [Apr. 30th, 2005|01:51 am]
We're Classicists and we're bitter...

[mood |cheerfulcheerful]

female kitten recently adopted from the Tri-Valley SPCA (photos taken by Charles, faithful servant to the cats and dogs)

I named her Sosipatra after the famous philosopher (from Eunapius' Lives of the Philosophers and Sophists). Once I get a philosopher cat, if it's a female cat, I'll name her that or perhaps even Sappho or Corinna, and if it's a male, perhaps Plato, Aristotle, Zeno, or maybe even Diogenes? Diogenes would fit if he tried to fit into like a small space like a box or something, like Sophie's philosopher cat did. (Please ask Sophie what happened, it's an extremely cute story!)

Sigh, I desperately need a cat to keep me company and teach me some wisdom.

i was watching a stray for my aunt once, and i named him michael ventris because i was doing a paper on him at the time.

I would think that Diogenes would be good for a puppy, since he was nicknamed "the Dog".

Anywho, your baby's adorable. Sosipatra's a great cat name.

I wish she was my baby but someone else adopted her. My friend didn't tell me her name so I gave her one.

I work for a vet during the summers. One of my favorite of our patients is a very sweet but not very bright golden retriever mix named Socrates. His owner said "I named him that because all he knows is that he's dumb." Hehe.

Very endearing little kitty!
